UX/UI

BY THE WAY

2025

By The Way is a platform that connects consumers with local businesses to create a more efficient and personalized shopping experience. This collaborative project was developed in a team of four during my studies, and became a meaningful introduction to working in multidisciplinary groups and building end to end product solutions together.

The challenge we focused on was identifying a real problem space that includes complex interactions between two different target audiences. We chose to explore the everyday shopping habits many of us struggle with. While being constantly busy, we tend to choose the fastest or most familiar option, even if we’d prefer to shop smarter, buy local, and save time and money.

At the same time, local businesses struggle to reach customers and compete with large retail chains. We identified a shared problem: a disconnect between consumers who want efficient, local shopping, and small businesses who can’t easily reach them.

Meet Amit.

Amit woke up in the morning, scrolled a bit on Instagram, and remembered that she promised her partner she would cook a romantic dinner for them on Friday.
She opens the app and creates a new list, adds the tag “romantic,” and sets a due date by which she wants to purchase everything on the list.

And Yoav.

On the other side of the city, Yoav, the owner of the wine shop “Mano Vino,” starts his morning at the store.
He opens the app and sees all the new recommendations that By The Way suggested for him.
The app noticed that the customer Amit (yes, the same Amit from before!) is about to pass near his shop on her route.
Amit loves rosé wines, so the app suggests offering her a special deal on one.
